1. Pull hair into a high ponytail.
2. Gather hair around the base of the ponytail and secure with an elastic. The ends of the hair will be sticking out around the messy bun.
3. Pull on the bun to make it larger and to pull the ends almost completely in.
4. Ends will still be out of the messy bun, giving it a relaxed look.
