Q&A with Life Abundant

Hello, everyone! I hope you’re all having an amazing weekend!

Today, I am doing a collaboration with my fellow blogger, Malaya. She blogs over at Life Abundant about her faith and about the lessons she has learned as a Christian. Before you read the Q&A, check out her beautiful blog here.

It’s been so much fun getting to know her, and we are both so excited about this collaboration!! The first 5 questions are on her blog, and I am posting the other 5. We hope you enjoy it!

  1. What inspired you to start blogging?

Malaya: Earlier this year, I thought, if I were really to take the gospel seriously and live it out, how would my life change? Then I thought about my friends from school and church, and I thought, how cool would it be if all of us were also to live in the abundant life that God has for us? What are practical things we can do to follow Jesus? Eventually I decided to combine these musings with an idea to start a blog. I’m still learning a lot about how to blog, but that’s kind of where it started.

Me:  I began my blog simply as an outlet for my writing hobby. Writing was not quite as important to my life when I started. Since then, my blog has become my ministry to other teen girls, my way of keeping in touch with friends, and an effective outlet to share my faith. Writing is now an important part of my life, and it is a powerful way to express and organize my thoughts. Over the past couple years, I have learned about God like never before. I really wanted to share what I was learning, so I got into Christian Living blogging. It’s changed the way I look at writing, and I’ve grown a lot through it!

2. How has blogging influenced your life as a Christian?

Malaya: Blogging has definitely allowed me to be more reflective, which has helped me to see ways in which God is working in me.

Me: I said before that blogging helps me organize my ideas. Well, it also helps me organize and think through my theology. When I have to explain a biblical concept, I am presented with the challenge of picking apart the topic to really understand it. Blogging about my faith has helped me to better understand what I believe. Blogging has also connected me with other Christians from around the world (like my new friend, Malaya!). I am so thankful for these unique friendships!!

3. If you were to choose three words to describe your life, what would you choose and why?

Malaya: Creative– I have had a big imagination since I was little, and I still do! Busy– Maybe it’s because I live in New York City, but life always seems to move at a very fast pace. Sometimes it can be a little overwhelming, but for the most part, I really enjoy the business. Family– I spend a lot of time with my family. We start every weekday by praying together and eat dinner together almost every night.

Me: Learning– I always seem to be learning something. There’s much I know, but there is so much more to be discovered! Organized Chaos– I guess that’s two words, but it describes my life pretty well! I have crazy adventures, hectic schedules, and many surprises, and yet I love scheduling and making to-do lists. Laughing– I laugh a lot. It’s not a little smile or giggle (although I do that too!). It’s often tears-to-my-eyes, rolling-on-the-floor, and snorting kind of laughter. I most often laugh with my siblings, and we have a great time.

4. What would be your ideal way to spend a day?

Malaya: I would spend the morning reading or writing at a coffee shop, and then hang out with a friend in the afternoon or over lunch. Then I would have a nice dinner with my family. After dinner we would all listen to an audiobook or watch a movie together.

Me: I would love to wake up at 6ish and eat a yummy breakfast. Then I would hang out with friends (workout and then bake… I actually did that once!) or maybe go roller blading/swimming. We could go out for ice cream, and then I could spend the evening talking with my family about funny memories. Then, I would sit down for a good movie to finish it off. (Wow… that sounds like an amazing day! I’ve never actually thought about it before, and now I’m so glad I did!!)

5. What’s the most recent thing you’ve learned about following Jesus as a teenager?

Malaya: Jesus has equipped all of his followers through the Holy Spirit to follow him and live in the way he wants us to. Nobody is too young to have a big life with God. If we ask God to give us more of himself, he will!

Me: I’ve learned that God has a mission for all of us. And even if it’s a “little” job, it’s perfect for us. God knows what is BEST for us, and we can be sure that God’s plan is the best plan.

Your Turn!

  1. This was fun to read, Rachel! I liked both of your answers to the questions! 🙂 When I saw that you put “laughing” as a way to describe you, it made me laugh. I’m totally the same way! I tend to laugh at things that most people probably wouldn’t think was funny. That’s just how I am! 😀

  2. Here’s my answer to my favorite question:
If I were to choose three words to describe my life, I would choose MUSIC— because music is a big part of our family in the way we praise God and just our daily life. CRAZY— life gets that way! 😉 Especially with many siblings! And CREATIVE— my siblings and I love drawing, writing, building forts, and playing imaginative games, and it’s so fun exploring these hobbies! 🙂

        1. Yeah, I hadn’t thought of this before either! Malaya came up with these five questions and I thought of the other five. Her question choices were pretty neat!

    1. Thanks, Grace! Blogging opens up some really unique opportunities. It’s really neat to meet people online this way! Also, could you email me some of the service projects you did for your group (making a difference, the monthly meetings… I forgot the name of your group)?
