Pysanky Eggs

My grandmother is an artist!  She knits, quilts, sews, and makes amazing Pysanky Eggs. She can make anything you can imagine.  She taught me how to sew on a sewing machine when I was four years old.  She thinks kids can learn early, and I like that about her.  She is encouraging.  Here are some pictures of the Ukraine Eggs that she made for Christmas. These are designs that my grandmother thought up herself.  There is also one I made when I was about 5 years old.  I did not try to do the traditional lines, but made a face on my egg and shoes you will see that are on the bottom of the egg (That is an important aspect to a five year old girl!).  My grandmother sells her eggs here at the Randolph Arts Guild: http://www.randolphartsguild.com/?page_id=126 Does your grandmother make anything? Which Ukraine egg do you like?

  1. This was an excellent post! I was quite surprised that you think I am an artist!!! I am teaching two classes in March on how to make a pysanky egg. Maybe you and your mom can plan a class at your homeschool co-op. I would be so happy to come!!!
